AAUP Tables No Confidence Vote

The RIder AAUP has tabled a move to vote "NO CONFIDENCE" in the leadership of Rider President Dell Omo at its March 7, 2017 meeting.  It is possible that the measure could come up again at the Rider AAUP's April meeting.

Our ONLY hope in this fight to save Westminster Choir College is Rider AAUP.  It would have been great had the NO CONFIDENCE measure been voted on and overwhelmingly adopted today.  I am sure there are GOOD REASONS that the AAUP hit the pause button.

AAUP has probably the most forthright statement on the Westminster situation.

Having the NO CONFIDENCE in the bag before the pending Westminster Choir College sales announcement might have - MIGHT HAVE! - given the board pause.

But now the AAUP apparently is going to meet again in April and the measure could get called again.  IF THE SALE IS ALREADY ANNOUNCED by then . . . that would probably sway whatever fence sitters there are.  So the pending vote is also an impediment - a warning to Board and Administration.

I am not convinced at the moment that the ALUMNI nor THE STUDENTS currently HAVE THE BACKS of the Rider AAUP - and that is something that the AAUP needs to think about in these matters.  We need to work on organizing and educating alumni and students and family about WHY SUPPORT FOR AAUP is ESSENTIAL for the SURVIVAL of Westminster AND Rider!

I have not seen support in recent years from alumni groups in support of AAUP in its year after year of strife with Rozanski beforehand and now Dell Omo.

I still stand 100% behind the points in this article calling for NO CONFIDENCE.

I might make some limited edition t-shirts with this logo.

The best steps to take RIGHT NOW for alumni and students is to ALIGN with Rider AAUP - they are best equipped and resourced to lead the kinds of struggle that is needed right now . . . and they know the true workings ogf the University and they SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER.

Support Our Beloved Faculty!

Rider Student Union is planing an organizing drive on both campuses and will be distributing a new publication - 4 - 8 pages.  The struggle is only just begun.

Who is going to comment and like on this and who is going to write a statement of support!  What organizations are going to send letters to Rider AAUP supporting the struggle to save Westminste and Rider.  If there is no solidarity - if there is no unity - there can be no victory . . . . AKA

THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED!
