Rider AAUP has set up a Facebook page as part of an effort to reach out to the Rider and beyond student, faculty, staff, alumni and greater NJ community. I urge EVERYONE who believes in the survival of Rider University and Westminster Choir College to add Rider AAUP immediately:

Hopefully there are instantly 1000s of Facebook friends to this new site - if you are friends with Westminster you best be friends with its faculty! I also encourage supporters of higher education, of faculty, of teachers, of solidarity from beyond Rider to friend up with Rider AAUP - because AAUP will need supprort in the months ahead and also has a proven record of providing mutual support for like minded efforts. I hope to conduct an interview with AAUP about the interconnected issues soon.

You best believe that the moves against WCC and AAUP - simultaneous moves - are linked up in the administration's strategy to autocratically apply its designs for Rider and Westminster.

It was very clear last year when the administration used the attack on piano and other majors to force a devastating set of concessions from faculty . . .

Westminster Choir College IS the faculty.

If we want to SAVE WESTMINSTER - it is NOT ONLY the BUILDINGS, the GROUNDS, the LOCATION!

If Rider administration is able to undermine faculty MORE THAN WHAT OCCURRED LAST YEAR . . .

It will lead to a dramatic transformation of the Westminster faculty - immediately and in the future.

Rider administration wants to go to an all adjunct system and to make it very difficult for the best faculty to stick around. Adjuncts work very hard and are an integral part of the learning process. But a university needs stability of top notch faculty that are the finest in their field. In fact, Rider is already engaged in underhanded bad faith practices in its dealings with the Rider faculty.

THAT WILL BE LOST . . . if Administration accomplishes its goals.

So the attack on Westminster are an attack not only on property and location . . .Westminster's PHYSICAL BODY

But the attack on Westminster INCLUDES the attack on the faculty - that is an attack  on Westminster's BRAIN.

The struggle to SAVE WESTMINSTER includes the struggle to SUPPORT OUR BELOVED FACULTY because the excellence of Westminster will be severely undermined with the current administration moves against the Rider AAUP contract EVEN IF WESTMINSTER STAYS AT ITS CURRENT LOCATION.
